For most songs, the speaker maintains great sound quality at high volumes, though I recommend standing at least a few feet back when it's cranked up all the way. Loud enough to rock a raucous house party or, in my case, completely drown out the freeway beyond our deck.

What can the Onyx Studio 2 offer its users Read our full review and find out. Let me know if you were able to solve it. I really love this speaker, but annoyed by the vibration on intense bass. It sounds like it is caused by the rear radiator cap to me. Destined to be the best sounding, full featured portable Bluetooth speaker in its class, the Onyx Studio 5 offers up to 8.

Wood provides the best overall sound I could actually feel the bass in my feet when the unit was placed on a wooden table on top of a wood deck.Īnd then, of course, there's the volume: the Onyx gets loud. Harman Kardon first came out with the Onyx Studio a few years back and what we have now is the update to that model. I have the Onyx 2 and I too hear the vibration at 30. The Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 5’s advanced and distinctive design is expressed through its signature round silhouette, premium fabric cover of the speaker enclosure and an integrated aluminum handle for easy portability. Thanks to its two woofers, bass is incredibly thumpy – although, realistically, the precise characteristics of the low-end depend on what type of surface you place the speaker on. The JBL Boombox 2 is a better speaker than the Harman/Kardon Onyx Studio 6. Better still, it delivers a pleasant soundspace across a variety of genres, from rock and folk to hip-hop and electronic music. Provided I remained in the standard Bluetooth range, I observed no dropouts when playing music from various devices. While the Wi-Fi streaming experience was frustrating, the Onyx's overall performance is impressive. Theoretically, you can also toggle between audio sources (AirPlay, DLNA and Bluetooth), though I didn't have any success rate with that functionality due to the aforementioned Wi-Fi issues. Its usefulness with the Onyx is quite limited: you can control volume, activate the stereo widening feature and view the remaining battery life.
